I've been burned before by no-good money-sucking wastes of space. It starts like it always does: the feeling of when you are so excited about trying something new, of all the promises that it will change your life. And then when you try the product..... Those empty words sting. You taste it for the first time with high hopes, then you think, "Well, that was X amount of dollars wasted." No one likes that let down.
I have felt this way about granola bars before, but DANG Two Moms in the Raw are far less scrub that! More like Knight in Shining Armor, these bars swept me off my feet. If someone had asked me in the moment, "If you love them so much, why don't you marry them?" I would have looked them straight in the eye and said, "I do!"
Not only is the taste a total keeper (more about that at the bottom), but this company comes from the most humble and natural roots. A family owned business, Two Moms in the Raw was started by the founder, Shari, and grew to basically incorporate her whole family, including her mother. Before they became an international brand, Shari was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She decided to manage her health with natural raw foods. After producing some tasty raw foods and selling them locally, she decided to go to the big time! Now, we see her brand helping people all over the world.
Just like in any good relationship, you want to find a partner that brings the goods to the table. And boy do the Blueberry Granola Bars deliver. These bars are organic, raw, non-gmo, kosher, and gluten free. And even though they are not labeled as soy-free, I do not see any evidence of soy in their products. If you are interested in the specific ingredients, they are as follows:
- Organic Agave, Certified Gluten-free Organic Oat Groats*, Organic Sunflower Seeds, Organic Buckwheat, Organic Pumpkin Seeds, Organic Blueberries, Organic Millet, Organic Apples, Organic Sesame Seeds, Organic Flax Seeds, Organic Pecans, Organic Almonds, Organic Cinnamon and Sea Salt
In regards to price, each box contains 4 bars, and each box costs 10 dollars. That puts each serving at $2.50. So, this is a little pricey compared to the average 1 or 2 dollars of food bars, but you really are getting what you pay for here.
Before we get into taste, let's talk about appearance. And, if we continue with this slightly creepy dating metaphor, this bar is a flawless 10! The grains are so colorful, and each individual piece stands out, but they hold together very well. No crumbling here! Who knew granola could be so pretty?
Okay down to the taste, the most crucial feature in a granola partner. IT WAS AWESOME! I even wrote down my husband's reaction to the first bite. He said both of the following phrases off the record, but I like to take notes as I try products to make the write ups easier later... Here were his exact words, "Wow, it is good. It's f*ckin' awesome." AND "That was the most sock-rockin' breakfast bar I've had in sometime."
Here is the specific break down. The bar is very chewy and each bite takes a while, which would normally be annoying, but because the flavor is so lovely, it feels nice to stretch out each bite. The bar is sweet but not overwhelmingly so. However, if you are super sensitive to sugar, then it may be on the slightly too sweet side. As you eat it, it tastes like Two Moms in the Raw was very mindful about each component. The flavor is hearty and substantial, and there are no fillers just to take up space. The nuts, seeds, and fruits are very evenly balanced on the palate, which evolves pleasantly from bite to bite, so you never just taste one note. In regards to seasoning, you do get some cinnamon, which pairs nicely with the fruits and grains.
Overall, this is a bar that you take home to mom.... Seriously, you could share this product with anyone, and they would love it. I cannot believe how delicious this bar is. It brings such quality to the table, that no other granola bar has to date (pun intended). How could you not love everything it represents and everything it is! Thank you Two Moms for giving us a bar that you want to cherish, honor, and devour for the rest of your days.
